Private Lessons

Richmond is an extremely experienced teacher, having taught both privately and in schools for well over 20 years.  Many students contact Richmond when they have reached a plateau with their playing and need help getting to the next level, along with adults who have played in the past and  want to pick up sticks again, or simply those who have always wanted to have a go!

Whether beginner or advanced, lessons are tailored to the individual with the aim to inspire each student through fun lessons set at the correct level to help them develop their skills as a drummer.

FAQ:

Do I need to bring anything for my first lesson?

No - all equipment will be supplied, but if you already have your own drumsticks then bring them along! After your first lesson or two you'll benefit from sticks of your own and you may need to purchase a tuition book.

Do I need my own drum kit?

No - To get started you do not need a drum kit. In the longer term, regular access to a drum kit will speed progress, initially, practice can be achieved without the need of a drum kit.

A 'practice pad' is a useful tool which you may like to buy before committing to a full kit.

I've been playing a while, What Drum Kit should I buy?

Buying your first drum kit can be a bit of a minefield - But don't panic! With links to Music retailers locally and nationally, Richmond is happy to advise you on what to buy and where to look;

" Although a shiny NEW drum kit is nice, I usually suggest  looking for something used to start with, and then you can upgrade as you go. The great thing about drums, is they don't get outdated as quickly as things like phones and computers! As long as they've been looked after, a kit from 20-30 years ago can be perfectly usable.
